Happy Wednesday, Rock Stars! Hope everyone is having a great week. Thanks to the reader who asked this week: “How can I minimize the chaos in my house from 3pm til bed time?” Ahhh. The witching hours. I used to think that it was only tough because my kids were little and close in age, but the reality is, it never truly becomes easy. There are three main things to remember: B O P.
Breathe. Organize. Plan.
These three things will save your life. First, BREATHE – slowly and deliberately in through your nose and out through your mouth. This will help you remain calm, present, and positive for your family. Second, ORGANIZE – do your best to structure the time for you and your family. Homework, dinner prep, tv show, whatever you need to get through it. The important thing is that if it’s been organized, there is no guesswork out of what is expected. This leads to fewer conflicts, less frustration, and hopefully less yelling! Finally, PLAN – everything runs more smoothly when I have taken the time to plan out a dinner menu for the week. Even better is when I have the dinner made and I can just reheat it for everyone as they head in and out to their events and activities. The best trick is to try to always have an easy emergency dinner ready to roll when things feel completely out of control – can you say breakfast for dinner? The most important thing is to be kind to yourself and realize that no household runs calmly and smoothly all the time during those hours. My house is the most calm between the hours of 10:30pm and 6:30am. Before I know it, that will change too.
Keep on rockin! ♥Megan
