I love reading other people’s blogs and gain so much insight from them. One of my favorites is www.momastery.com, written by Glennon Melton. I highly recommend following her. The quote below is one that I’ve seen, but is profoundly impactful to me every time I read it. It reminds me to stop and observe the beauty and strengths of my children. The quote also allows me to offer some praise for myself and the job I am doing. I struggle so much with comparing my children to a set of ideals I have in my head of what constitutes a good kid. I want so much for them in their lives, as all parents do, that I sometimes focus too much on what I want them to be rather than who they are. Each of my boys is like no one else. Their uniqueness and individuality is what makes them great already. We can get so caught up in achievements, milestones, grades, and athletics that we forget to admire and recognize that it’s the qualities and traits of our children that make them special.
So, on this Thoughtful Thursday, let’s take some time to pat ourselves on the back and really see the good kids that are already standing right in front of us.
